Located in southern Wisconsin, Janesville is the county seat and largest city in Rock County. Its central location makes Janesville a short drive from the metropolitan areas of Chicago and Rockford, Illinois, as well as Milwaukee and Madison, Wisconsin.
The city has a population of approximately 63,575. The city limits include about 27.94 square miles or 17,888 acres of land. The Rock County Wisconsin Development Alliance reports that the Janesville area scores high on the affordability scale — without sacrificing important quality of life standards.
